Annual Stitches in Time
Quilt & Craft Fair
Saturday October 21, 2017 9am to 4pm
Roosevelt High School, 616 N. 2nd St. Johnstown

The Johnstown Historical Society's 16th annual Stitches in Time Quilt & Craft Fair will be held Saturday, Oct 21st from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Roosevelt High School, 616 N. 2nd Street in Johnstown. This annual fundraiser, which benefits the historical society and the Historic Parish House and Museum, features a wide variety of hand-stitched and machine-sewn quilts of any vintage, style, size, theme or pattern, and skill level.

Quilts are displayed in the main gym. Visitors can vote for their favorite quilt, and the winner of the Viewer's Choice Award will become next year's "Featured Quilter". This year's Featured Quilter title belongs to Sharon Engel of Greeley. Several of her quilts will be on display, and she will be on hand, too.

Numerous crafters and other vendors will have their (mostly) handcrafted items for sale in the cafeteria and small gym.

Our Featured Presenter this year is Margaret Willingham of Milliken. Margaret is a professional artist and retired professional dancer. She is the founder and creative force behind Eye of the Beholder Quilt Design. Margaret will speak from 11:00 a.m. to Noon in the auditorium about a reverse appliqué technique she specializes in.

Approximately 12 craft demonstrators will provide live instructions of their crafts, ranging from spinning and weaving to quilting, needlework, beading, gourd painting, and more.

Other events include a Silent Auction, bake sale, hourly door prizes, and a "fabric grab" sale of assorted fabrics, scraps, and other items for reuse or repurposing, all donated by local quilters and seamstresses. Dig through the stacks and fill a grocery bag of your choice of fabric for $5.00.

Johnstown's local Estrellita Club will provide lunchtime food for purchase.

Anyone can enter any number of quilts. A suggested donation of $5 to our cause is greatly appreciated.

If you would like to show quilts or become a vendor, please visit the Historic Parish House Museum at 701 Charlotte Street in Johnstown on Wednesdays from 9:00 a.m. to Noon to register, or call 970-587-0278 and leave a message.
